This is an easy one. Open the engine compartment and locate the water inlet pipe for the generator. Attached to it will be a filter basket. Now that we have located the pieces we will be working with go ahead and start the generator and let it run until it warms up. This can take 4 or 5 minutes. After warm up shut the generator off. If yours has a shut off valve on the stand pipe shut it off now. If it doesn't that's okay as well. On top of this filter basket there is a removable top. This is there so you can unscrew the lid counterclockwise to gain access to the sediment screen. They generally simply lift out. Go ahead and lift the screen basket out and rinse it until it's clean. Replace it back in the container. NOTE.. Leave the top off for now we are going to pour antifreeze in there. Make sure at this time that you have two gallons of marine antifreeze. NOT AUTOMOTIVE ANTIFREEZE. This marine antifreeze is safe to dump in the lake. Open both containers now. Locate the water/exhaust port on the rear side of your hull. This is where the generator dumps the water that's being used to cool the generator. I'm sure you have seen this coming out of your boat when the generator is running. Start the generator and immediately start pouring the antifreeze in through the opening of the filter basket. Try and keep up. While you are doing this have your mate watch the water/exhaust outlet on the side of the boat. Have them shout out to you when they see the pink antifreeze coming out. Immediately shut down the generator. Finish filling the basket until full to the top. Re-install the screw top in a clockwise motion and you done.
