Protecting electrical connections

The answer here is dielectric grease.  You can purchase this from any good automotive parts house.

This is corrosion inhibitor grease.  You simply apply some to the wires at there connection point. Example; If you where twisting two wires together and using a wire nut to secure them. Same applies if you where using crimp style connectors.

A great place for this is on your shore plug that you attach to the dock and your boat. Apply some on the copper probes. This will assure a corrosion free connection and help prevent the connection from heating up.  Caution, Make certain your shore power is turned off before doing this.

You can also apply some in all 12v light sockets that are outside and exposed to the elements.

Doing this will suppress corrosion in these areas.
