QUESTION: replacing old floor in a 1976 steel hull 50ft houseboat in bedroom . do i need to put any film or sealer under wood to keep moisture from it? after tearing out floor ,some of the wall panels near floor had damage just in one spot. do i need to pull panel off and check for leak. im real green about houseboats.
ANSWER: I assume your installing hard wood or some type laminate. I used basic roofing tar paper under our hardwood floors we intalled on our boat. This served as a good moisture barrier. As for the leak you found it is very important to identify the source of the leak and make repairs before installing new flooring. Most likely the leak is at or around a door or window and is coming in and down to the floor. I hope this infor helped and good luck. I bet it will look great!! Uncle Ricky
