Question from WebSite - 1/2/2010
QUESTION: What are the small tanks below our sinks? I was told they go to the commodes and aid in them flushing. Sometimes the hoses coming from them need o be left open and sometimes they need to be pinched. It just depends on how we find they work best. Can you explain in a little more detail how they work and what they actually do?
ANSWER: Matt & Heather, First allow me to apoligize. I answered this via my e-mail and just noticed it is still in here on the site to be answered. The tanks under the sinks are to be used to add deorderizers. This is done by mixing the desired approved deoderizer with water and filling them up. They generally have a surgical type clear hose coming from them that is attached to the water supply to the commode. They usually have a pinch off style regulator inline close to the tank. This is used to adjust the amout desired to be used at each flush. They actually work quite well but take close monitoring so they dont get empty. The problem here is when they get empty they cause the water supply to basically have a vacum leak. This can cause the bowl in the commode to not function properly. The normal tell tell sign is low bowl water levels. If you choose not to use this or get tired of filling it all the time its best to pinch it off completely. I hope this answers your question.
